Desired to find a tabernacle - This was in David's heart, and it met with the Divine approbation: see 2Sam 7:2, etc., and see the purpose, Psa 132:2-5; but, as David had been a man of war, and had shed much blood, God would not permit him to build the temple; but he laid the plan and made provision for it, and Solomon executed the design.
