Who or what is this?
The Valley of Salt was a geographic feature likely located south of the near the border of Edom, serving as the setting for two notable military victories against Edom. struck down eighteen thousand there and then garrisoned the whole land of Edom (2 8:13; 1 Chronicles 18:12; Psalm 60 title). Generations later, King Amaziah of killed ten thousand Edomites in the same valley and took the city of Selah (2 Kings 14:7; 2 Chronicles 25:11). The site's arid, salt-laden terrain near the Dead Sea made it a memorable landmark for these campaigns.
