What and where is this?
Tekoa is a town in the hill country of , about six miles south of and twelve miles south of . It is famous as the home of the 'wise woman of Tekoa' whom sent to King with a parable about blood vengeance, persuading David to allow 's return from exile (2 Samuel 14). The prophet identifies himself as a herdsman and dresser of sycamore trees from Tekoa (Amos 1:1), and his book's oracles against the nations open with Tekoa as his hometown. fortified the city as part of Judah's southern defense network (2 Chronicles 11:6), and records that the Tekoites helped rebuild Jerusalem's walls, though their nobles refused the work (Nehemiah 3:5, 27).
