Socoh is a city in the of near , listed in 15:35. It is best known as the location beside which the army encamped before the famous confrontation between and in the valley of Elah (1 17:1). A second Socoh appears in the hill country of Judah (Joshua 15:48) and is listed in one of 's administrative districts (1 Kings 4:10). The two towns share a name but represent distinct settlements in different parts of Judah.
