Who or what is this?
Soco (also spelled Sochoh or Shocho) is a town in the of , fortified by along with and other Judahite cities as a defensive network against Egypt after the division of the kingdom (2 Chronicles 11:7). The valley of Elah, where the Philistines encamped before 's battle with , ran near Soco and Azekah (1 17:1). Later, in the reign of , the Philistines raided the Shephelah and captured Soco along with surrounding villages (2 Chronicles 28:18). It is also listed in 's second administrative district (1 Kings 4:10).
