Who or what is this?
Shinar is the Mesopotamian plain named in Genesis as the location where established his kingdom — including , Erech, and Accad — and where the peoples of the earth gathered after the flood to build a city and tower reaching to heaven (Genesis 10:10; 11:2–9). It is also identified as the origin of Amraphel, one of the four kings who waged war against and and whom defeated (Genesis 14:1). The book of uses Shinar as the name for , with carrying vessels there (Daniel 1:2). 11:11 envisions a future gathering of Israel's scattered remnant, including from Shinar.
