Who or what is this?
Saphir is a town in the or lowland region of , mentioned only in 1:11. In that passage Micah delivers a series of bitter wordplays on the names of towns that will share in Judah's coming judgment at the hands of : 'Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked.' The exact location of Saphir is uncertain, though it is generally placed in the western foothills of Judah. Beyond this single prophetic oracle the town has no further narrative in Scripture.
