Who or what is this?
Ono was a town in the lowlands west of , built or rebuilt by Shemed, a descendant of Benjamin (1 Chronicles 8:12). After the exile it was resettled by returning and is listed among the towns of Benjaminites in 2:33 and 7:37. Nehemiah 11:35 associates it with Lod and notes the surrounding 'valley of craftsmen.' The town also appears in a more dramatic context in Nehemiah 6:2, where and Geshem try to lure Nehemiah to a meeting in the plain of Ono — a ruse Nehemiah recognized and refused, understanding they intended him harm.
