Who or what is this?
Nob was a priestly city, likely located on a ridge northeast of within sight of the city. When fled from Saul, he came to Nob and told the priest he was on urgent royal business; Ahimelech gave him the sacred and the sword of the (1 21:1–9). When Saul learned that Ahimelech had aided David, he summoned the priests of Nob and had all eighty-five of them killed, then massacred the entire city with its inhabitants and livestock — an atrocity carried out by the after Saul's own servants refused (1 Samuel 22:9–19). 10:32 mentions Nob as a point from which an advance would threaten Jerusalem.
