The Waters of Merom were a lake or stream in northern , the gathering point for a great coalition of northern kings who assembled against after his victories in the south. The coalition was led by Jabin king of and included kings from the hill country, the valleys, and the Mediterranean coast, bringing vast numbers of horses and chariots. God told Joshua not to fear them, and Joshua launched a surprise attack at the Waters of Merom, routing the coalition and pursuing them as far as Great and Misrephoth-maim to the north and the valley of Mizpeh to the east (Joshua 11:1–9).
