Who or what is this?

Mephaath was a city on the plateau east of the , originally within the tribal territory of as listed in 13:18. It was subsequently assigned to the Merarite among the Levitical cities (Joshua 21:37; 1 Chronicles 6:79). The prophet includes Mephaath in a list of cities to face judgment (Jeremiah 48:21), suggesting that by his time had taken control of it. Beyond these allotment and prophetic references, no narrative episodes are connected to Mephaath.
