In the Old Testament, the Medes appear as instruments of divine judgment against : 13:17 names them as those stirred up against Babylon, and 51:11, 28 calls on the kings of the Medes to destroy her. records the fall of Babylon to the Mede (Daniel 5:31) and the law of the Medes and Persians as unalterable.
