Who or what is this?

Mareshah was a fortified city in the lowlands of , listed among the towns of Judah in 15 and later fortified by (2 Chronicles 11:8). It is most prominently associated with a major battle in 2 Chronicles 14, when the Zerah came against King Asa with a vast army; Asa prayed, met Zerah in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah, and the Lord defeated the Ethiopians. The prophet , who himself was from Moresheth-Gath near Mareshah, pronounced a wordplay lament over Mareshah and announced that a conqueror would come to it. The city later declined into insignificance and is not mentioned after the intertestamental period.
