Who or what is this?
Makkedah was a royal city in the captured by during the southern campaign in Joshua 10. After the battle of , five kings — including those of , , , , and — fled and hid in a cave at Makkedah. Joshua sealed the cave until the battle was finished, then brought the kings out, had his commanders place their feet on the kings' necks as a sign of conquest, and executed them before hanging their bodies on trees until evening. The city itself was then taken, its king killed, and its population devoted to destruction. Makkedah is also assigned to in the tribal allotments of Joshua 15.
