Town in the hill country west of where the ark of the covenant is brought after the Philistines return it on a new cart, and where it remains in the house of Abinadab for twenty years under the care of his son . From here eventually attempts to bring it to Jerusalem on a cart, the journey on which Uzzah is struck down for steadying the ark at the threshing floor of Nacon. The prophet son of Shemaiah, contemporary of , also comes from this town.
