Who or what is this?
The Kidron (also called the brook Kidron) is the valley running between and the , descending steeply toward the . In the Old Testament it appears as the route taken by when he fled Jerusalem during 's revolt, crossing on foot and weeping (2 15:23), and as the place where reforming kings — Asa, , — threw down and burned pagan altars, idols, and vessels (1 Kings 15:13; 2 Kings 23:6, 12). In the New Testament, John 18:1 records that and his disciples crossed the Kidron to reach the garden of Gethsemane on the night of his betrayal, linking the valley to both the Davidic flight and the passion narrative.
