Kabzeel is recorded in 15:21 as the first-named city in the southernmost district of , near the border of Edom. Its chief biblical significance comes from 2 23:20 and 1 Chronicles 11:22, which identify it as the hometown of , father of Benaiah — one of the most celebrated of 's mighty men, credited with killing two lion-like warriors of , a lion in a pit on a snowy day, and an impressive warrior. After , 11:25 records that some returned exiles settled at Kabzeel, also called Jekabzeel.
