Who or what is this?
Transjordan town in whose people are nearly wiped out at the end of Judges when they fail to muster for the war against , supplying brides for the surviving Benjamites. When the besieges them and demands that every right eye be gouged out, Saul rallies Israel to rescue the city in his first act as king, forging a lasting bond. After Saul and his sons fall on Mount and their bodies are hung on the wall of Beth-shan, the valiant men of Jabesh-gilead travel through the night to recover and bury them.
