Who or what is this?
Ijon is mentioned in two separate military campaigns in the historical books. In 1 Kings 15:20 and 2 Chronicles 16:4, Ben-Hadad king of attacks and captures Ijon along with Dan and Abel-Beth-Maachah at the request of King Asa of , who paid him with silver and gold from treasury. Ijon reappears in 2 Kings 15:29, where king of takes Ijon, Abel-Beth-Maachah, , Kedesh, and — carrying the population of Naphtali captive to Assyria. These two episodes trace the progressive decline of Israel's northern frontier.
