Who or what is this?
A geographical name appearing in several distinct contexts in the Old Testament. In Genesis 2, the Gihon river is said to wind through the whole land of Havilah, a region noted for its fine gold, bdellium, and onyx stone. In Genesis 10, Havilah appears as both a son of Cush and a son of Joktan, suggesting the name was applied to more than one territory in the ancient world. In Genesis 25 the territory of the is described as extending from Havilah to , and the same formula recurs in 1 15 to mark the extent of Amalekite territory that Saul was commanded to destroy.
