A river and district in northern where the kings resettled deportees from the northern kingdom. According to 2 Kings 17, when the Assyrian king Shalmaneser captured and ended the northern kingdom of Israel, he carried the Israelites away to and placed them in , , and the cities of the — with Gozan also named in 2 Kings 19 and 1 Chronicles 5 among these places of exile. The river Gozan is generally identified with the Khabur River in what is today northeastern .
