A city in the hill country of , assigned to the of the clan as one of the priestly cities listed in Joshua 21. After his victory over the at , sent a share of the recovered spoil to the elders of Eshtemoa along with those of several other towns that had supported him during his years of flight from Saul (1 Samuel 30). The city is also mentioned in the genealogical lists of 1 Chronicles among the descendants of Judah.
