Name shared by a Shephelah town in Judah and a more prominent Levitical city in Issachar, the latter possibly identified with the valley town of Jenin.
What and where is this?
Engannim appears in two contexts in the tribal allotments. Joshua 15:34 lists it among the towns in the foothills of . A distinct Engannim in (Josh 19:21) was assigned to the as one of their cities (Josh 21:29), where it is also called Anem in the parallel list in 1 Chronicles 6:73. The Issacharian Engannim is more prominent, identified by many with the fertile valley town of Jenin at the southern edge of the Valley. Beyond the allotment passages the name does not feature in narrative accounts.
