Dibon is a city on the plateau of , north of the River. Numbers 21:30 mentions it in the context of the defeat of , and Numbers 32:34 records the Gadites rebuilding and settling Dibon (giving rise to the name Dibon-gad). 13:17 assigns it to the tribe of , though it evidently returned to control. 15:2 and 48:18, 22 name Dibon in their oracles of doom against Moab, prophesying that its people will go up to the high places weeping and that the city will sit in thirst and desolation.
