What and where is this?
A well in the Negev desert between and Bered, whose name means "the well of the Living One who sees me" or "well of the one who lives and sees me." It is first mentioned in Genesis 16, where , fleeing from , encounters the angel of the LORD beside a spring; she names the well to commemorate God's seeing her in her affliction. Genesis 25:11 records that after 's death, came to dwell by Beer Lahai Roi, and Genesis 24:62 notes that he was coming from there when first saw him. The well thus marks two pivotal moments in the patriarchal narrative: Hagar's divine encounter and Isaac's home territory.
