Who or what is this?

Mesopotamian empire centered on that dominates the ancient Near East from the ninth to the seventh century BC. Its kings Tiglath-pileser, Shalmaneser, and Sargon conquer the northern kingdom and deport the ten tribes in 722 BC, and later invades and besieges under before his army is destroyed by the angel of the LORD. The prophets , , and all address it as the LORD's rod that will itself be broken.
