Who or what is this?
A major port city on the Mediterranean coast, founded by Alexander the Great and home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the ancient world. Alexandria enters the New Testament through two of its inhabitants: , described in Acts 18:24 as "an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures," who taught in and ; and the Cyrenians and Alexandrians who debated in (Acts 6:9). 's final voyage to made use of Alexandrian grain ships — the party transfers to one at (Acts 27:6) and to another after the shipwreck (Acts 28:11).
