Who or what is this?

A geographical feature — literally "Scorpion Pass" or "Ascent of Scorpions" — that marks the southern boundary of the promised land and of 's tribal territory. It appears in Numbers 34:4 in the description of 's ideal borders, in 15:3 as part of Judah's southern boundary running from the , and in Judges 1:36 as the southern extent of territory. The name presumably reflects the prevalence of scorpions in the rocky passes of the Negeb highlands.
