Who or what is this?
A town and valley in the that straddles the tribal territories of Dan and . Aijalon is most famous as the setting of 's command during the battle of : "Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Aijalon" (Joshua 10:12). The town itself was assigned to Dan (Joshua 19:42) and designated a Levitical city for the (Joshua 21:24; 1 Chronicles 6:69). Though the struggled to hold their allotment against pressure (Judges 1:34–35), Aijalon appears later as a town held by the tribe of Benjamin (1 Chronicles 8:13) and fortified by (2 Chronicles 11:10).
