A river or canal in Babylonia that served as the mustering point for 's party of returning exiles. In Ezra 8, Ezra camps beside the Ahava for three days to review the assembled group, discovers no among them, and sends to recruit priestly servants. There he proclaims a fast so the company might humble themselves before God and ask for safe passage, refusing to request a military escort because he had spoken confidently to the king about God's protection. After twelve days of preparation the caravan departs from Ahava toward , carrying temple vessels and silver and gold.
