Son of installed as a vassal king in by after the deportation of , and the final ruler of the Davidic kingdom before exile. He oscillates between secret consultations with and fear of his own officials, finally rebelling against and bringing the long siege of Jerusalem upon the city. When the walls are breached he flees toward the , is captured near , watches his sons killed at , is blinded, and is led in chains to Babylon.
