Who or what is this?

Shimi (or ) was a son of son of Levi, making him a grandson of Levi and an early ancestor of the Gershonite . He is named in Exodus 6:17 and Numbers 3:18 alongside his brother Libni as the two sons of Gershon; his descendants, the Shimites, formed one of the two Gershonite clans counted in the wilderness census (Num. 3:21). The name is also given as Shimei in Chronicles. Beyond the genealogical lists, no personal narrative is connected to him.
