Who or what is this?
Shema is one of the men who stood on 's right hand on the wooden platform during the solemn public reading of the Book of the Law in (Neh. 8:4). Thirteen individuals are named on the left and right of Ezra in this scene, and Shema is among the six on his right. The ceremony is a key moment in 's account of the restoration community reaffirming the covenant. Nothing further is recorded about Shema himself.
