Who or what is this?

Shaul was one of the early kings of Edom in the list of kings who reigned before any king ruled over Israel (Gen. 36:37–38; 1 Chron. 1:48–49). He is identified as coming from Rehoboth by the River, though which river is not specified. He succeeded on the throne and was himself succeeded by Baal-hanan son of Achbor. No deeds or reign-length are recorded; he appears solely in these ancestral king-lists.
