Who is this?

Shaphan served as royal under King of and played a pivotal role in the religious reformation of the late seventh century BC. When the high priest Hilkiah discovered the Book of the Law during repairs to the temple, he gave it to Shaphan, who read it and then brought it before Josiah and read it aloud to the king (2 Kings 22:3–13). Josiah's hearing of the Law prompted immediate alarm and the consultation of the prophetess Huldah. Shaphan's family remained prominent: his sons Ahikam, Elasah, and Gemariah, and his grandson , are mentioned in as protectors of the prophet.
