Shammua was one of the sons born to in after he had become king over all Israel. Under the name Shammua, he is listed among David's children in 2 5:14 and 1 Chronicles 14:4. These royal-child lists preserve him as a genealogical figure, though no individual narrative episode in the Bible focuses specifically on him. In 1 Chronicles 3:5 the same son appears under the name Shimea, listed among the four sons born to David by Bathshua ().
