Who or what is this?

proconsul of at , described in Acts 13 as an intelligent man who summons and to hear the word of God. When his attendant the sorcerer opposes them, Paul rebukes the magician and strikes him with temporary blindness, and the proconsul believes, astonished at the teaching of the Lord. His conversion marks one of the earliest recorded responses of a Roman official to the gospel.
