Who is this?

Salmon appears in the Judahite genealogy of Ruth 4 and 1 Chronicles 2 as the son of Nahshon and the father of , placing him in the lineage that runs from through to King . Matthew 1 names him in the genealogy of and identifies his wife as Rahab, making him the father of Boaz by the woman from who had sheltered the spies. Luke 3 also includes him in the genealogy. As Nahshon was the leader of the tribe of Judah during the wilderness period, Salmon belongs to a prominent Judahite family of the period of settlement.
