One of the seven Hellenists chosen in Acts 6 to oversee the daily distribution to widows. After 's death he preaches in with signs and confronts the sorcerer, then is directed by the Spirit to meet an official on the road to , whom he baptizes after explaining 53. He settles in , where later stays in his home and his four prophesying daughters are mentioned.
