Who is this?
Pekah son of Remaliah was an army officer who assassinated King Pekahiah of Israel, seized the throne of the northern kingdom, and reigned in for twenty years according to 2 Kings 15. He allied with Rezin king of in the Syro-Ephraimite War, and the two kings besieged in an attempt to depose of and replace him with a puppet—an episode that prompted 's famous Immanuel oracle. The king III invaded in response, capturing territories and deporting populations. Pekah was eventually assassinated by son of Elah, who then seized the throne.
