Pahathmoab (meaning "governor of ") is the name of an ancestral family head whose clan was among the largest to return from the exile. 2 and 7 list 2,812 (or 2,818) descendants of Pahathmoab, sons of Jeshua and , as returnees with . Members of the family are also named among those who had married foreign women and had to put them away under Ezra's reforms. Nehemiah 3 records a Pahathmoab representative helping repair the wall of , and the family head appears again in Ezra 8 as a leader who accompanied Ezra himself on the return journey.
