Prophet whose book closes the Twelve as a series of disputations with a complacent postexilic community. He rebukes the priests for despising Yahweh's name with blemished offerings, the people for unfaithful marriages and divorce, and the community for robbing God in tithes. The book ends with a promise that the messenger of the covenant is coming, that the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, and that will be sent before the great and terrible day of Yahweh.
