Who or what is this?
Brother of and of whom John's Gospel describes as the one loved. After his death Jesus deliberately delays, then arrives at the tomb, weeps, and calls him out alive after four days, the climactic sign that hardens the resolve of the chief priests to put Jesus to death. He is present at the supper in Bethany before and is sought out as a curiosity by crowds drawn to see one raised from the dead.
