Kadmiel was a leader whose family returned from exile with , his name appearing in the lists of 2 and 7 as head of a Levitical household. In Ezra 3 he and his sons are among those who oversaw the work of rebuilding . In Nehemiah 9 and 10 he stands among the Levites who lead the people in a great act of public confession and covenant renewal, calling out in prayer and sealing the written covenant. He thus appears repeatedly as one of the prominent Levitical leaders of the restoration community.
