(also written Jehoram) was the son of and who became king of Israel after the brief reign of his brother Ahaziah. He is described in 2 Kings as one who put away the pillar of his father had made, yet clung to the sins of . He campaigned with Jehoshaphat of and the king of Edom against , and the prophet served during his reign. He fought repeatedly against , and at one point the siege of brought the city to extreme famine. He was ultimately shot by at , and his body was thrown into the field of Naboth the Jezreelite, fulfilling the prophecy against the house of Ahab.
