Prophet son of Pethuel whose book opens with a devastating locust plague stripping the fields of and silencing offerings. He summons priests and people to fasting and assembly at the house of Yahweh and reads the disaster as a foretaste of the great and terrible day of the Lord. His oracle of the Spirit poured out on all flesh, with sons and daughters prophesying, becomes the text cites at in Acts 2.
