Daughter of Ethbaal king of and wife of who imports Phoenician worship into Israel and supports hundreds of prophets of Baal and at her table. She slaughters the prophets of the LORD, threatens after , and arranges Naboth's death so Ahab can seize his vineyard. During 's coup she is thrown from her palace window in and trampled, and dogs eat her flesh as Elijah had foretold. Revelation 2:20 later applies her name as a typological epithet to a false prophetess in who leads believers into immorality and idolatry.
