Priest's son from in called from his youth to uproot and tear down, to build and to plant, who prophesies through the final decades of . He confronts kings from to , performs sign-acts with linen belts, broken jars, and a wooden yoke, and is beaten, imprisoned, and lowered into a muddy cistern for announcing 's fall. After the city is destroyed he is carried unwillingly to Egypt with the remaining Judeans, where he continues to deliver oracles of judgment and a promised new covenant.
