Who or what is this?
King of Israel, son of Jehoahaz and grandson of , who reigned in for sixteen years (2 Kings 13). He visited the dying prophet and wept over him, and at Elisha's direction shot an arrow from a window as a sign of victory over ; Elisha rebuked him for striking the ground only three times instead of five or six, limiting his victories. He fought and defeated Amaziah king of , broke down part of the wall of , and plundered treasury. He also recovered from Ben-hadad of Syria the cities that had been lost in his father's time, fulfilling Elisha's word.
