Who or what is this?
A chief musician appointed by King to lead one of the three main divisions of temple musicians, alongside and Heman. He is also called a seer, and his sons served under him in the singing and playing of instruments in the sanctuary. Chronicles records that his sons were assigned their lots by David for temple service, and his name appears in the superscriptions of Psalms 39, 62, and 77, indicating that his musical guild continued to perform compositions long after his appointment.
